Although there are no known side effects attributed to the Goji berry itself, there is some concern about drug interactions.
The Mayo clinic notes on their web site that Goji juice may interact with some medications, but does not list the specific drugs. There is evidence that Goji berries may interact with anticoagulant drugs (commonly called blood-thiners) such a Warfarin (Coumadin). Dr. Ralph Moss, an authority on alternative cancer therapies, warns that Goji berries, like garlic, might have a slight anti-coagulant effect, and people taking drug-thinning drugs should be careful.
Also, bestselling author and natural medicine expert, Dr. Ray Sahelian suggests that high doses of Goji could induce alertness at bedtime and make it difficult to fall asleep.
We recommend that you consult your doctor before making Goji a part of your regular diet, especially if you have an existing medical condition, or if you are taking other drugs, herbs or dietary supplements.
